Inspiration and encouragement come from many different places, some of them unexpected.
While I normally find inspiration in church for me, as a Christian, I don’t often hear something that comes directed toward me specifically. That wasn’t the case this weekend.
As is customary, my wife and our youngest son were sitting in our customary seats (my oldest son is off to college). After we finished our time of singing, before we sat down, the pastor stood at the podium and said a few words. He read from Psalm 23 and talked briefly about the boy who had two fish and five loaves of bread from Matthew 14.
He reminded us all that our God is a Good Shepherd and that He can take what little we have and bless it beyond measure. We simply have to surrender. As the sheep, we have to be willing to let Him make us lay down in green pastures and we have to give up what little we have so that it can multiplied.
Pastor Philip, reminded me that no matter what I am going through, God is sufficient. He is enough for me and will take care of me, my family, and my business. Even though I don’t feel or think that what I have is enough, with Him it always is.
When he spoke these words both my wife and my son leaned in toward me and looked at me as if to say, “see, we will be okay.”
It was a very powerful moment for me and one that was unexpected.
Keep an eye out for unexpected encouragement!
That was only 1 of 4 events that took place throughout the day that sent the same message. Even though I have little, with God, everything is going to be OK!
It’s great to be reminded. Perhaps you need to be reminded of that today as well.
