This is the first year where I can remember entering the year with a lot of fears and concerns over what is happening in the world and in particular, the US Economy.
Some of my companies (IMPACT Properties, Crosswalk Mortgage, and Beacon Escrow) are directly tied to the housing market and the housing market is the target of the Fed as they seek to stop inflation. They have succeeded in killing the real estate market in order to make their inflation numbers look good.
News articles abound now about the reality of our rapidly retracting housing market. Home prices are declining at a rapid rate. Home sales have declined at a pace not seen since WWII. The headlines are scary. And my companies are directly affected by this reality. I’ve been studying and watching the market for decades and lived through the 2007-2008 housing collapse and that helped me see the warning signs.
In spite of the news, and despite the fact that I could see it coming, we all have to make choices each day as to how we are going to proceed with our lives. What are you going to do today?
We have to choose to move forward with action plans that will help us define our own place in the world. Right now, there are startup companies that have been waiting for the economy to slow down so they can implement their plans. Right now, there are business owners and workers who are seeing unexpected growth. Right now, you are faced with a choice.
Will you let the external circumstances around you define your year or are you going to define your year and then change the circumstances around you? You see, I believe that what happens around you, doesn’t have to happen to you.
You get to make a choice today that will lead to thousands of other choices. What are you going to do?
Will you choose to make 2023 a great year for you personally and professionally? Will you choose to make 2023 the best year ever, despite the economy, news, wars, and media noise?
Take a moment right now and make the decision to embrace 2023 and all it has to offer, both the good and the bad, the happy and the sad, the easy and the difficult, and the wins and the losses.
Let’s make 2023 our best year ever!
