The Blessing of Kind Words

I attended a networking event hosted by a magazine where I offer my services. The event was for all of the magazine advertisers. It was a great way for me to meet other business owners that also love our community.

At the event I met many of my competitors within my own industry that I respect and admire. After I gave a small testimonial for the magazine, one of them pulled me aside and said the most kind words to me.

She said, “You know I love my company, but everytime I see you speak, I wish you were our leader.”

Those words blessed me so much. She was sincere, kind, and genuine.

I thanked her and encouraged her to continue doing a great job with her clients where she’s at. I left the door open and added that if anything ever changed, I’d be delighted to have her join our company.

It takes a person of great character, courage, and strength to compliment a competitor, rather than to tear them down.

What words will come out of your mouth today? Will you bless others? Will you curse others? Will you bless your competitors?

She was the perfect example of what we are commanded to do in Ephesians 4:29, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” (ESV)

Your words make a difference so be gracious with kind words today.
